All about SELF!

How often do we find ourselves tending to everyone else, that we forget about US?! I told myself that I would find a way to squeeze in some "me time" without feeling bad about it. All day I'm caring for other people. Nursing a baby, cooking and prepping meals, being a teacher to a 6yr old, and a barista to my husband, just to name a few. None in which self care was a highlight.

So, I sat back and thought about the little things that may help ease my nerves and allow me to enjoy not only being essential to others, but showing up and and being essential to myself. Ideally; lighting my favorite candle, drinking fancy looking water in one of my favorite cups, pull out the dark chocolate and opening my packages ALONE! I legit can feel the cool breeze just thinking about it.

In order for us as moms and/or wives to be able to juggle the many tasks we face a day, we need to make sure we are taking care of the number one person who keeps the home running smooth; OURSELVES! We have to understand that it's okay to be selfish, to find things that make us happy, and making that a priority. Believe me, it's definitely necessary!

How do you find the time you ask? I still have yet to really figure that out. The only thing I can suggest is, shutting the house down a little earlier than usual (because I know I can't be the only one on the same schedule as the kids), and indulging in a little time for caring for self.

Here are a few easy self care tips that I find help:

  • Light a candle (try A. Marie Candle Co. Currently loving the scent pineapple sage)

  • dismiss the "to-do" list/chores for the day

  • spray perfume and put on your fav loungewear

  • snuggle on the couch with a good book and blanket

Taking care of self is super important. Especially when other people including younger children, depend on you to show up for them 100% of the time. Pick a day and a time every week for self care. The same way you adjust your schedule for others, adjust your schedule for you and "take care." Let's help other mamas as well with some easy ideas in the comments.
